Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research position at the Department of Mathematics (Pure and Applied), Rhodes University, Makhanda, South Africa. The appointment is funded by the National Research Foundation to support the project "The interaction of gravitational waves with matter, including astrophysical applications", being led by Prof. N.T. Bishop. The funding for this position is R320,000.00 per year for two years, commencing 1 January 2026.
The project requires someone with a good understanding of general relativity with matter and experience in computer algebra and numerical computation. The following papers give some background on the project:
